Dutch Recipe Part 1

Dutch Breakfast Bread (Ontbijtkoek):

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 Tbsp of baking powder, 1 tsp of baking soda, 2 tsp of cinnamon, 1/3 tsp of nutmeg, 1/3 tsp of ground ginger, 1/3 tsp of salt, 1 cup of plain yogurt (can be fat-free) or buttermilk, 1 egg, beaten, 1/3 cup of honey

Preparation:Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Combine all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. In a medium-sized bowl, combine all the liquid ingredients together until well blended. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until moistened.Pour batter into an oiled loaf pan and baked for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and remove from pan. Set on a rack to cool.

Serve with margarine spread and strong coffee
